FL Condo Owners May “Be Forced Out” As Some Condo Assocs. Aren’t Turning In Studies, Engineer Warns

Floridians who live in an older condo are probably aware that the Florida Surfside condo collapse of 2021 led to increased requirements for some condo associations. Examples of these requirements are licensed inspections, reporting, and reserve funds. Because these requirements can be costly and some associations do not have extensive reserves, not all associations were in a rush to complete them. Some have meant costly special assessments for Florida’s condo owners. However, one Florida engineer is warning that some Florida condo owners may be “forced out” as a consequence of some associations not turning in their reserve studies by last year’s deadline.
