PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – Pinellas County residents looking to safely dispose of old tires can take advantage of a free collection event happening this Saturday, April 19th. The county is hosting the event at three locations from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. as part of its efforts to control mosquito populations.
The event is a collaborative effort between Pinellas County Mosquito Control and Pinellas County Solid Waste. Discarded tires left outdoors are notorious for collecting standing water, providing ideal breeding grounds for mosquitoes. Officials note that a single scrap tire can facilitate the breeding of thousands of mosquitoes throughout a season, contributing to the potential spread of mosquito-borne illnesses.
The free tire collection will take place at the following locations:
- HHW North: 29582 U.S. Highway 19 N., Clearwater
- Walsingham Park: 12615 102nd Ave., Seminole
- Lealman Exchange: 5175 45th Street N., St. Petersburg
This event is exclusively for Pinellas County residents. A government-issued ID will be required at drop-off locations to verify residency. The county will not accept tires from businesses…
