TAMPA, Fla. (WWSB) – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a person they say scammed an elderly Sun City Center man out of more than $800,000.
In June 2022, the 92-year-old victim was targeted in a bank and romance scam. He transferred thousands of dollars to a bank account where it was siphoned off to multiple individuals through various means, including a cryptocurrency platform, ATM withdrawals and point-of-sale transactions.
The sheriff’s office says on March 10 of this year, Otiz Swinton Jr., 37, was caught on camera at a Publix in Orlando, using the victim’s Wells Fargo card to make a purchase…
