Mom, 6-year-old seriously injured in hit-and-run at Largo Walmart, police say

LARGO, Fla. (WFLA)— A mother and her child were hospitalized with serious injuries after a woman hit them in a Walmart Parking lot before leaving the scene, the Largo Police Department said.

Officers responded to a hit-and-run crash on Thursday just before 9 p.m. at the Walmart on 2677 Roosevelt Boulevard.

Investigators determined the suspect, Luaren Howells, 32, hit a mother and her 6-year-old child who were exiting the store before crashing into other vehicles in the parking lot and leaving the scene.

The mother sustained serious injuries, and the child suffered critical, life-threatening injuries. Both were taken to a nearby hospital, LPD said.
