Pete’s Bagels new drive-thru officially opened

Pete’s Bagels owner Steven Peterman announced on Instagram that he opened his highly anticipated drive-thru at 2439 4th St. S. in St. Petersburg. Operating out of a historic Standard Oil gas station—one of the first ever built in St. Pete—the new drive-thru provides high-quality breakfast options outside the Old Southeast neighborhood.

“We are excited to bring good food to an underserved part of the city,” Peterman said. “We are part of the community.” He emphasized that they hire locals and intend for the drive-thru to be “a place the people come to.”

The historic lot was previously a junkyard before Peterman leased it from the Blackmon family. The Blackmons sought to partner with a business that could revive the building while preserving its timeless charm. They successfully secured a local historic designation and are working toward a national designation.

Peterman moved to St. Pete in 2018 and launched Pete’s General Store and Bakery in Historic Uptown in 2019. Since then, he has expanded to a larger location in the Grand Central District (2361 1st Ave. S.), opened a sister location in Ybor City (1804 E. 4th Ave.) and established a dedicated bakery in Gulfport (1407 49th St. S.)…
