TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – A regional carrier based in Florida abruptly shut down its operations on Wednesday, leaving some of its former customers scrambling to find alternate transportation.
Silver Airways, based out of the Fort Lauderdale area, announced Wednesday that it would be ceasing operations the same day amid “an attempt to restructure in bankruptcy,” according to a notice posted to the carrier’s Instagram page. Silver Airways had entered into an agreement to sell off assets to another airline holding company, the airline said, but “unfortunately” that company would not be maintaining Silver’s routes, which included flights to and from Florida, the Southeast, and the Bahamas.
“Please do not go to the airport,” Silver Airways advised in the message.
