Some St. Pete hurricane survivors from underserved communities still homeless

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Right after hurricanes Helene and Milton, Spectrum News spoke with several residents living in underserved communities that were hit hard by the back-to-back storms. Some were still living in the flood damaged homes with no plan and few resources.

Lolitha Seay was one of those residents. She said she lost it all.

Strong winds from Hurricane Helene ripped the roof off her South St. Pete apartment complex. At the time she was thankful there were only a few signs of mold and water damage in her first-floor unit, but that feeling didn’t last long…
