Madeira Beach ‘trash pirates’ go hunting for litter after July 4th

MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. — At first light on the first Saturday of every month you will find the Trash Pirates of Mad Beach hard at work picking up trash.

  • Three nonprofits teamed up to clean up Madeira Beach and John’s Pass after July 4th
  • More than 100 volunteers showed up
  • By mid-morning, all the trash was collected

Audrey Cevaer, one of the co-founders of the community service group, says the work goes hand in hand with the Madeira Beach way of life.

“We want our environment to be a little bit better,” she said. “We want to save our marine life. We want our visitors to come and say, ‘wow this is a really clean beach, and I like being here.’”…
