WATCH: St. Pete officer wields fallen palm frond against enraged duck

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — When a St. Petersburg police officer noticed a family of ducks trying to cross a busy highway, he jumped in to help lead them across.

Though not all of them were grateful for his escort.

But with nine ducklings in tow, parents have to be wary of approaching strangers. The officer tries to usher the black bellied whistling ducks across the street, but one of the adults is not happy with how close he gets to the babies.

The officer valiantly fights off the angry duck with a fallen palm frond, but it doesn’t stop the bird from flying right at him.

Not easily deterred, the officer safely gets the feathered family out of the road, the angry parent only relenting when the babies jump onto the sidewalk and start waddling away…
