The 1887 Church in Manatee County has been named to the annual “11 to Save” program highlighting historic landmarks in Florida worth preserving.
The Florida Trust for Historic Preservation created the 11 to Save program to help preserve historically historic resources across the state. Locations are nominated by the public, and typically reflect the history of Florida communities.
Construction of the 1887 Church started in 1887, but was completed two years later because the pastor and many members of the congregation died from a yellow fever epidemic during its construction.
