Driver caught going 125 mph on I-275 in St. Pete with 7-year-old in passenger seat: deputies

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — A driver was caught going 125 mph on Interstate 275 in St. Petersburg on Wednesday night with a 7-year-old front-seat passenger, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

According to the sheriff’s office, a deputy saw 44-year-old Demetrius Yates driving southbound on I-275 at speeds over 100 mph just after 10 p.m. The speed limit in the area is 65 mph.

The deputy said they paced the vehicle at 120 mph, but Yates was still pulling away.
