Teen shot dead by man he was trying to buy gun from, Pinellas County detectives say

CLEARWATER, Fla. (WFLA) — Pinellas County detectives believe a 15-year-old boy was trying to buy a gun when he was shot dead Wednesday afternoon.

The suspect, 19-year-old James Acosta, of St. Petersburg, has since been taken into custody and charged with third-degree murder, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said they received a 911 call shortly after 5:30 p.m. on July 23 from someone who had found the victim, 15-year-old Ahmad Albayati, of Largo, lying in the street.
