An Extreme Heat Warning is active for Polk, Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando, and Citrus counties today, along with a Heat Advisory for all counties to the south from 12 pm to 7 pm Tuesday.
High temperatures Tuesday afternoon are forecast to climb into the mid and upper-90s with feels like temperatures in the triple digits for *most of the day*.
The persistent and dangerous heat prompted the National Weather Service to issue an Extreme Heat Warning which is only issued when feels like temperatures are forecast to reach or exceed 113° for multiple hours.
