St. Pete leaders remind of application deadline storm permit fee waiver

ST.PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) – Thursday is the last day for residents in St. Petersburg to apply for storm-related permits and inspections without facing fees.

More than 11,200 fee-free permits have been issued since hurricanes Helene and Milton. City leaders extended the original June 30 deadline to July 31.

To avoid fees, homeowners can file permits at the Municipal Services Center located on 4th Street North in downtown St.Petersburg. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Owners need the following documents to file for permits:

  • Photo ID
  • Floor layout
  • Summary of storm damage
  • Photos and/ or videos of storm damage
  • Permit Application and Floodplain Substantial Improvement/Substantial Damage Packet (forms can be found at this link: Building & Permitting)
