ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — Hundreds of people could see their water turned off next week because of unpaid bills at two apartment complexes.
The City of St. Petersburg notified residents living at the Morgan on 54th Avenue South, and at the Elements on Third on 3rd Avenue North that they could lose water service on August 21st, if the bills are not paid by the owner.
On Monday, city Spokesperson Samantha Bequer said in an email, “As of August 7, Lurin has paid a total of $303,961.03 in payments toward the outstanding balance. Across all of Lurin’s accounts with the City of St. Pete, they still owe $420,068.50. This balance must be paid prior to August 21, 2025 in order to avoid an interruption of service at these properties. We are encouraged by the progress so far and will continue to work with the property owner to collect these delinquent balances. We will remain in active communication with property management until the balances are paid.”
In response, a spokesperson from LURIN Real Estate Holdings sent 8 On Your Side a statement that said, “LURIN is continuing to work constructively with the City to address these claims, and we fully expect to resolve them before there is any impact on the households in these communities. Our company is committed to delivering the best possible living experience to its residents, and our teams work hard every day to offer great apartment homes in growing markets that badly need quality rental housing. We pursue this mission in dynamic and often difficult conditions, striving to maintain stable daily operations for our residents while also responding to inflationary pressures, contractions in financial markets, and unexpected natural disasters. Through it all, the comfort and well-being of residents remain our top priorities. We thank residents for their patience as we put to rest recent financial challenges and move forward in pursuit of our goal to deliver comfortable, quality apartment properties that are positive assets in their neighborhoods,” said Ed Cafasso, with LURIN…
