FEMA offers assistance to help repair storm-damaged homes in Hillsborough County

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Hillsborough County residents have another opportunity to obtain Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) assistance in repairing their storm-damaged homes.

In partnership with the state of Florida, the FEMA Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) program is available for storm damage repair, even if a resident was previously denied assistance through the Florida Division of Emergency Management’s Elevate Florida Grant program.

Homeowners must cover the project’s initial costs, as the FMA program operates on a reimbursement basis. The program is highly competitive, and the typical process from Notice of Interest (NOI) to completion is projected to take five to 10 years…
