Florida Department of Health confirms dengue fever case in Hillsborough County

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Florida Department of Health issued a mosquito-borne illness advisory after a locally acquired case of dengue fever was confirmed in Hillsborough County.

The DOH-Hillsborough and Hillsborough County Mosquito Control said they are coordinating surveillance and prevention efforts by conducting aerial spraying.

Health officials said dengue fever can be a painful, debilitating disease, but it is rarely fatal.
