KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A homicide cold case team investigation led to the arrest of one man for the 2023 death of 43-year-old Kunta Tavarius Davis.

In September 2023, Davis was found laying on Cameron Street near Washington Avenue with a gunshot wound and taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.
His passing marked the city’s 16th homicide investigation of that year which, by the end of the year, rose to 22. Before that, the high mark for homicides in a year was 15 in 2020 and 2021.
In 2025, Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) organized a team of two detectives dedicated solely to solving these homicide cold cases…
