12-Time Felon Arrested After Tampa E-Bike Chase, Found With Stolen Firearms

TAMPA, Fla. – A convicted felon with a lengthy criminal history is back in custody after a dramatic pursuit with Hillsborough County deputies ended with the discovery of multiple firearms, including a stolen rifle. Christopher Newman, 44, was arrested on Sunday after a brief chase through Tampa.

Deputies received a tip that Newman, who was released from state prison just five months ago, was attempting to sell firearms.

Investigators conducted surveillance on his residence on East Sligh Avenue, where they saw Newman leave with a large bag and riding away on an e-bike. When deputies attempted a traffic stop, Newman fled, weaving through traffic and attempting to discard the bag he was carrying…
