St. Pete bar named #1 local sports bar in the country

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — The City of St. Petersburg has a brand-new feather in its cap after USA TODAY named a beloved dive the #1 local sports bar in the country.

Ferg’s Sports Bar & Grill was started by St. Pete native Mark Ferguson, who purchased an old Sunoco gas station in 1991 and began transforming it into a gathering place for the Gas Plant District.

The bar has exploded in size and popularity in the decades since, now boasting a 70,000-square-foot complex with over 100 TVs, an outdoor concert venue, a dog-friendly patio and park and plenty of space for private parties and events.

Ferg’s offers a menu full of gameday must-haves like wings, burgers, nachos and other classics as well as plenty of drinks to wash it all down.
