Protests and problems slow down mural removals across Tampa Bay

TAMPA, Fla. — The clock is ticking for cities across Tampa Bay to erase dozens of colorful murals. A state deadline is less than a week away, and in Tampa, only one mural has been removed so far.

Crews spent hours sandblasting and power washing the Alan Wright mural, making it the first in Tampa to be erased. But the mural is still very visible. City officials say the removal is finished, but 46 more murals remain.
