Photos: St. Pete chalks sidewalks to protest street art crack down

Demonstrators over the weekend chalked up St. Petersburg sidewalks with rainbows and messages of unity and inclusion to protest the state crackdown on street art.

The latest: By Monday, the Progress Pride intersection at Central Avenue and 25th Street was the city’s last remaining pavement mural after state crews covered up four others.

  • That includes the “Black History Matters” mural outside the Woodson African American Museum of Florida, which was removed Friday night.

ICYMI: St. Pete police arrested two pastors who they say attempted to block Florida Department of Transportation crews from covering the artwork.
