St. Pete Beach worker arrested after using city gas card to steal $3K of fuel: deputies

ST. PETE BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) — A St. Pete Beach employee was arrested Thursday after Pinellas County deputies said he used a city gas card to steal thousands of dollars’ worth of fuel.

Detectives with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said they began investigating after they received a report of theft by a city employee in St. Pete Beach in late August.

Investigators said 50-year-old Leonard Hardy Rose used a city gas card multiple times to make unauthorized fuel purchases between February 2024 and August 2025.
