Hillsborough deputy charged with DUI, on unpaid leave

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A deputy who has been with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office for years was arrested and charged with DUI last weekend, the sheriff’s office said.

Shannon McBride, 60, was traveling on Upper Manatee River Road Saturday evening when the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting a possible intoxicated driver.

Officers later located the car, a Toyota Tacoma, “improperly parked” at Brixley Apartments.

McBride was still in the driver’s seat and showed obvious signs of impairment, but refused a breath test. She was booked into the Manatee County Jail and charged with driving under the influence, HCSO said.

The sheriff’s office said McBride had been with the agency for seven years and was assigned to a housing unit at the Orient Road Jail…
