1 home destroyed, another badly damaged in separate fires in Ruskin

RUSKIN, Fla. (WFLA) — Hillsborough County Fire Rescue crews had a busy night on Thursday, battling two huge home fires in Ruskin neighborhoods.

Multiple 911 calls alerted HCFR to a manufactured home fire on 18th Ave. SE just after 11 p.m. on Thursday, and responding crews arrived to find it entirely engulfed in flames. Manufactured homes are those built in factories and then transported to a home site for installation.

The home quickly collapsed, and crews used the fire truck’s crane to tackle the fire from above. Firefighters were at the scene for hours, ensuring no hot spots remained and the fire was fully extinguished. No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.

Less than two hours later, a second home fire was reported in Ruskin, this one on Vista Ridge Drive.

Responding crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from the home’s garage, already spreading up to the roof.

Firefighters attacked the blaze from land and sky, and had to saw through the half-melted garage door to fully extinguish the fire. One person was evaluated at the scene but did not require transport to the hospital. No other injuries were reported…
