Halloween on Central and other free family events

Pinellas County neighborhoods from gulf to bay are providing scary-but-safe Halloween events and activities for local littles this weekend. For the fifth consecutive year, the biggest goody bag of them all will be Halloween on Central, a joint venture between St. Petersburg’s Grand Central and EDGE districts.

Here’s the deal: A total of 22 blocks of Central Avenue, from Dr. MLK Jr. (9th) Street to 31st Street, will be closed to vehicular traffic Sunday (Oct. 26) from noon until 5 p.m. For ease of access SunRunner, the express bus service that loops continuously on 1st Avenues South and North, will be free all day.

Those closed-off blocks will contain St. Pete’s largest street carnival, a veritable who’s what of costumed characters, live entertainment and DJs, a “Voodoo Vendor Village,” games and contests (even a costume contest for dogs), dancing – and many, many food trucks…
