Hillsborough County Deputies Arrest Two in Drug Bust, Seize Cocaine, Firearms, and Cash in Ruskin

In a methodical sweep to dampen drug-related crimes, deputies from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) showcased their law enforcement prowess by concluding a month-long investigation with an arrest. Details released by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office on Facebook revealed that on October 21, deputies carried out a search warrant on West College Avenue in Ruskin. This action was the culmination of an investigation by the Street Crimes Unit and HCSO’s Gang Unit into local narcotics activities.

According to the sheriff’s office, serving a court-authorized search warrant led the deputies to unearth a trove of illegal items: deputies recovered 59 grams of cocaine, Alprazolam, cannabis and its concentrated resin, varied drug paraphernalia, and rounds of 9mm and .40 caliber ammunition. A stolen Smith & Wesson handgun, sourced from within Hillsborough County, was among the seized items, not to mention the $5,460 in cash found, presumably proceeds from illicit transactions.

The search and subsequent arrest brought two individuals into custody. Carlos Medina Rivera, 42, with a history of seven felony convictions, and Desi Castell, 18, found themselves ensnared by the law’s long reach. “This investigation is another example of the dedicated work being done by our deputies to disrupt criminal activity and hold offenders accountable,” Sheriff Chad Chronister proclaimed as per Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post, validating the effort to eradicate the threats posed by drugs and illegal firearms on the community’s well-being…
