Traffic Alert: Pinellas County Drivers Face Widespread Lane Closures Next Week (Nov. 2-8)

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla.—Drivers across Pinellas County should prepare for significant travel delays and detours next week as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 schedules extensive lane closures from Sunday, November 2, through Saturday, November 8, 2025.

The closures affect key interstates, US highways, and major state roads, primarily involving nighttime work on I-275 and US 19, and multiple daytime closures.

Motorists are strongly advised to check local traffic updates, plan alternative routes, and allow considerable extra travel time, especially during overnight hours.

Major Interstate Closures: Nighttime Impacts

Interstate traffic will be heavily impacted overnight throughout the week:

  • I-275 Mainline: Lane closures will be in effect from the end of the southbound express lanes to 38th Avenue North nightly from Sunday, November 2, through Thursday, November 6, between 8:30 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  • I-275 Express Lanes: The Express Lanes from south of Gandy Boulevard to 4th Street North will be fully closed overnight from 9:30 p.m. Sunday, November 2, to 5:30 a.m. Monday, November 3.
  • I-175 (St. Petersburg): Night lane closures are scheduled from 16th Street S to 4th Street S from Sunday, November 2, through Thursday, November 6, between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m.

Ramp Alerts: Brief, periodic flagging operations affecting the I-275 exit and entrance ramps at 38th Avenue N (Exit 25), 54th Avenue N (Exits 26, 26A, 26B), and Gandy Boulevard (Exit 28) are slated for Monday, November 3 through Friday, November 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

US 19 and ALT US 19 Closures

Both US 19 and its alternate route will experience closures, primarily impacting the north county area:

  • US 19 Night Work: Multiple segments of US 19 will have night lane closures from Sunday, November 2, through Thursday, November 6, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.:
  • Whitney Road to Drew Street
  • SR 580 (Main Street) to SR 586 (Curlew Road)
  • Drew Street to Sunset Point Road
  • ALT US 19 Daytime Closures: Daytime lane closures are scheduled for various segments from Monday, November 3, through Friday, November 7, generally between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Long-Term and Daytime State Road Projects

Several state roads have ongoing or scheduled daytime closures that will affect commutes:

  • SR 60 (Gulf to Bay Boulevard): The eastbound lane closures from S. Bayshore Boulevard to Dr Kiran C Patel Boulevard are 24 hours per day through late 2025.
  • SR 586 (Curlew Road): Motorists should note two long-term lane closures from McMullen Booth Road to Tampa Road:
  • Outside eastbound lane closures are 24 hours a day through late 2026.
  • Middle eastbound lane closures are scheduled during the day, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Monday through Friday.
  • SR 580 (Main Street): Lane closures will be in effect east of Phillipe Parkway from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Monday-Friday).
  • SR 666 (Tom Stuart Causeway): Closures near Madeira Beach Patriot Park are scheduled from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Monday-Friday).
