ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — There’s been four pedestrian and three bicycle fatalities in St. Petersburg this year. Police are working to keep everyone safe on some of the city’s busiest roads. Their High Visibility Enforcement Operation started Tuesday.
Police were not handing out tickets, but instead flyers and flashlights, educating people on traffic safety.

“They’ll be looking for people on bicycles and e-bikes, running red lights, pedestrians not using crosswalks, crossing mid-block and also includes vehicles not doing the right thing,” said Sgt. Michael Schade with St. Pete PD.
