St. Pete woman killed in hit-and-run at Publix

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — A St. Petersburg woman was killed Friday evening in a hit-and-run, police said.

According to a release, the incident happened shortly before 5 p.m. at the Publix on 200 37th Avenue North.

The woman, only described as being “elderly,” was in the store’s parking lot when she was hit by a car.

The driver, identified as 85-year-old Darrell Elwin Briggs, left the scene of the crash, police said…
