The Homeless Leadership Alliance announced that cold night shelters in Pinellas County will open on Monday, November 10. The shelters will operate from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. This decision follows a National Weather Service forecast of nighttime temperatures at or below 40 degrees. Shelters will accept guests until they reach capacity. Many shelters will also provide meals.
The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) will offer free bus rides to and from the shelters. Free rides are available from 5 p.m. Monday to 7 a.m. Tuesday. Riders should tell drivers they are going to a cold night shelter to ride without paying a fare. Shelters are located in Tarpon Springs, Clearwater, Pinellas Park, and St. Petersburg.
