ST. PETERSBURG, FLA — Sharmae Lamar has been a teacher in Pinellas County for seven years. She says she started her career as a substitute and worked her way up. Her mom inspired her to pursue a career in education.
“She’s always told me that I had a gift working with kids. I didn’t really know what aspect I wanted to go in with working with kids until I started subbing in Tallahassee,” said Lamar.
