Man Accused of Taking “Nuisance” Dogs, Including Victim’s Service Animal to Pinellas County Animal Services

A man was arrested on Thursday, November 20, 2025, after deputies say he removed two dogs from a woman’s residence and attempted to surrender them to county animal services as stray animals.

According to an affidavit from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, 37-year-old David Michael Orrico observed two dogs outside a residence at 10100 Sailwinds Boulevard North in Unincorporated Largo on November 20 at approximately 2:30 p.m. Investigators say he picked up the dogs, placed them in his truck, and transported them to Pinellas County Animal Services.

Deputies stated that Orrico was seen removing the dogs’ collars before attempting to turn them in as strays. The affidavit reports the animals belonged to the victim, who owns three dogs in total. One of the recovered animals was identified as a miniature schnauzer, one of the victim’s service animals, valued at about $1,700.
