HART lands its largest-ever federal grant to replace aging diesel buses with cleaner CNG fleet

TAMPA, Fla. — Hillsborough County’s growing population is putting new pressure on its public transit system, and HART is getting a major boost to help meet that demand.

The agency has secured the largest federal grant in its history — more than $32 million from the Federal Transit Administration — to replace dozens of aging diesel buses with low-emission compressed natural gas models.
