PALMETTO, Fla. (WWSB) – An 18-year-old driver in a stolen vehicle died after a crash Monday night in Palmetto, deputies said.
Deputies received an alert about a stolen vehicle out of Hillsborough County about 8 p.m. Jan. 5 and later located the stolen Honda Accord on U.S. 41, according to authorities. Deputies confirmed the car was stolen and began following it.
After additional units arrived, deputies attempted a traffic stop in the 1000 block of U.S. 41, authorities said. The driver, identified as Michael Jerome Austin, 18, of Ruskin, initially slowed, then made a U-turn at 7th Street and U.S. 41 before turning east onto 17th Street East…
