Honduran man found guilty of identity theft and false citizenship claims

TAMPA, Florida — A federal jury has convicted Cristian Daniel Diaz-Garcia, a 27-year-old illegal alien from Honduras, on charges including aggravated identity theft and false representation of a Social Security number. Diaz-Garcia faces up to 24 years in federal prison, with sentencing set for March 17, 2026.

Diaz-Garcia was indicted on July 30, 2024, and his trial revealed that he falsely claimed U.S. citizenship to secure employment with Archer Western-de Moya Group Joint Venture II in Pinellas County, according to a press release from the United States Attorney’s Office.
