BRANDON, Fla. (WFLA) — A 17-year-old student at Brandon High School has died after being struck by a CSX train Thursday morning, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.
At around 8:20 a.m. on Jan. 8, deputies responded to the tracks near Lakewood Drive and found the injured teen.

Later that day, the sheriff’s office told 8 On Your Side that the boy’s injuries appeared to be non-life-threatening, but on Saturday, HCSO said he was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
The boy died of his injuries sometime on Jan. 9, HCSO said.
