Headphones, Dense Fog Scrutinized After Brandon High Student Killed By Train

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – The 17-year-old Brandon High School student struck by a CSX train on Thursday morning died from his injuries on Friday, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 8:23 a.m., deputies rushed to the railroad tracks near Lakewood Drive in Brandon following reports of a collision involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival, first responders found the teenager in critical condition and immediately transported him to Tampa General Hospital.

According to preliminary details from the investigation, the student was walking along the tracks toward Brandon High School when a CSX train approached from behind. Investigators say the teen attempted to jump out of the way at the last moment but was unable to clear the train’s path…
