‘Always ready to help’: Hillsborough fire rescues small dog that slipped down drain pipe

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A crew with Hillsborough County Fire Rescue proved Saturday morning that they’re looking out for all Tampa Bay residents, human or otherwise.

Captain S. Lozano, driver J. Mancillas and firefighter J. Ellis responded to a call from distraught owners about a small pup who slipped down a drain pipe that was obscured by surrounding grass.

The dog, Stormy, wasn’t able to climb out and was too far down for someone to grab.

Fortunately, HCFR crews were prepared thanks to the wide variety of tools they keep on their engines.

These three everyday heroes were able to carefully lift Stormy out of the pipe and back into the loving arms of its owners.
