OLDSMAR — A Pinellas County man was arrested Wednesday afternoon following an incident that investigators say involved an infant being thrown from a stroller during a confrontation in Oldsmar.
According to a Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office arrest affidavit, deputies arrested Alex Miller Wells, 35, of Oldsmar, on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. Wells faces multiple charges, including felony child abuse, aggravated assault on a person over 65 years of age, and resisting an officer without violence.
The affidavit states the incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of Pine Avenue and Vineyard Lane. Investigators allege Wells was involved in a verbal argument with the infant’s father and was observed on video aggressively approaching the infant and the child’s elderly grandmother. During the encounter, a physical altercation occurred between Wells and the child’s father. Deputies allege Wells then threw the stroller, causing the infant to be hurled onto the street and sustain injuries. An independent witness reported seeing the infant thrown from the stroller onto the concrete.
The child was transported with serious injuries to the trauma center at St. Joe’s Hospital in Tampa. No update regarding the infants condition was released…
