On Wednesday morning, a stray dog was spotted in the median of Tampa’s I-275. The dog appeared frightened and avoided motorists’ gestures to be rescued.
It had been early in the morning when a passerby notified authorities of the dog. Fortunately, Trooper Andrew Fuqua, with the Florida Highway Patrol, arrived at the scene a few minutes later and saw the dog nervously pacing up and down the median. When he approached, the dog was obviously agitated and growled.
Trooper Fuqua was able to keep the dog from running into the heavy rush-hour traffic until specialized help arrived. Hillsborough County Animal Control was then contacted about the dog. For the safety of motorists and the dog, traffic was diverted until the dog was safely placed in the animal control vehicle…
