PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — A Pinellas County group home and daycare employee is facing charges one month after she abused a non-verbal autistic child, deputies said.
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office responded on Dec. 21 to a report of a child abuse case at a group home in Largo, where a father said he noticed multiple injuries to his child.
Detectives said they reviewed surveillance footage from the home and witnessed 38-year-old Shannon Cooper pulling the child around by their collar, hitting them unprovoked multiple times, straddling them and forcing her weight upon them, throwing the child into furniture and bringing them into rooms that did not have cameras…
