A former Florida police officer is facing animal cruelty charges for allegedly fatally poisoning his girlfriend’s dog last year, authorities said.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday that 22-year-old Edwin Campuzano has turned himself in to be arrested on a charge of aggravated cruelty to animals following a “thorough investigation” of the May 2025 incident, which was reported in December.
Detectives determined Campuzano “deliberately purchased” poison from a Tractor Supply store two days before his girlfriend was scheduled to leave town on a trip. While she was out of town, Campuzano allegedly placed the poison in the food of her 3-year-old Maltese poodle, Milo, which caused fatal internal bleeding…
