Florida passenger sentenced for threatening to ‘beat up’ flight attendants

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A woman will spend five months in federal prison for interfering with flight attendants on a plane leaving from Tampa International Airport, officials said Monday.

Jennifer Rodriguez, 37, of Puerto Rico, was sentenced by a Florida judge after previously pleading guilty to charges stemming from the April 21, 2024, incident, according to the Department of Justice.

Rodriguez was on a flight heading from Tampa to San Juan, Puerto Rico that day, court documents state. After leaving the gate, flight attendants repeatedly asked Rodriguez to end her phone call, but she refused and became argumentative.

Officials said Rodriguez started yelling at the flight attendants and threatened to hit, slap and “beat [them] up,” at one point saying she would pull their hair and “drag them down the plane’s aisle by their scarves.”…
