St. Pete man arrested after he falsely reported he was kidnapped, police say

GULFPORT, Fla. (WFLA) — A St. Pete man was arrested on Tuesday after he falsely reported that he was kidnapped and placed into the trunk of a vehicle he was borrowing, the Gulfport Police Department said.

On Jan. 20, the man, Lemun Errol Fields, reported to the St. Pete Police Department that he was kidnapped by a prostitute, bound in a soft fabric and placed into the trunk of the car he reportedly borrowed, GPD said.

Fields said he was robbed of $500 by the prostitute’s husband at a residence in Gulfport, according to GPD.

Fields told officers he was driven to the “Palmetto mall” and left in the trunk until a couple helped him escape around 9 a.m. on Jan. 21…
