‘It was surreal’: St. Pete pottery shop destroyed after early morning fire

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — St. Pete Ceramics, a local pottery studio and art gallery, was left in ashes Wednesday morning after a fire broke out near the back of the building along 22nd Street South around 4 a.m., according to St. Pete Fire Rescue.

“It was one of those … are you going to throw up or pass out? It was surreal,” said Beth Miranda, the owner.

The shop, which had been in business for over a year, lost thousands of dollars worth of uninsured equipment, as well as artwork and the entire pottery-making section of the building.
