Warnings Issued to Millions of Florida Seniors

Virtually all of Florida faces some form of cold weather alert from the National Weather Service (NWS), affecting most of its 23.3 million residents, as warnings specifically focus on seniors ahead of the arctic blast.

The slew of warnings arrive as a bomb cyclone is set to form off the U.S. East Coast and an arctic blast descends into the South. Record-breaking cold is expected, with possible snow flurries in Tampa, Florida, and near the Bahamas. Snow flurries last dusted Tampa more than six years ago, on January 9, 2010, NWS meteorologist Tony Hurt told Newsweek.
