Mexican National Sentenced for Trafficking Narcotics in Tampa Bay Area

A Mexican national was sentenced for trafficking narcotics in the Tampa Bay area.

31-year-old Lorenzo Valerio-Popoca, a Mexican national residing illegally in the United States, was indicted in 2019 for trafficking methamphetamine in the Middle District of Florida. According to court documents and evidence presented at trial, in 2017 and 2018, Valerio routinely brokered and received kilogram-quantities of methamphetamine directly from his narcotics sources of supply in Mexico. Valerio then sold the methamphetamine in bulk to others in Manatee County and Hillsborough County in Central Florida, among other locales.
