TRUCKEE, Calif. (CBS12) — A 30-year-old Florida man and mountain guide was among nine people killed in Tuesday’s Castle Peak avalanche in California, authorities said Saturday.
The victims included three guides from Blackbird Mountain Company and six experienced women skiers who were close friends. Six others survived Tuesday’s slide, which struck during the final day of a guided tour, according to the Associated Press.
Nevada County Sheriff Shannan Moon identified the victims during a press conference and noted that the search isn’t over yet.
