St. Pete man accused of shining laser at deputies’ helicopter

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — A St. Petersburg man was arrested on Tuesday after deputies say he shone a laser lightning device at a helicopter.

At 8:58 p.m., the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office helicopter was flying in the area of 38th Avenue North when deputies in the cockpit were struck by a green laser.

Flight deputies found the person responsible at 29th Avenue North and maintained a visual on him while patrol deputies were dispatched to the address.
